Zoomph Product Change Log

Update April 21st, 2025

📊 Deprecation of Zoomph’s Aggregate Reach Metric

With the launch of our new Social Overview Dashboard (released April 8th, 2025), and updates made to reflect Instagram’s new Views metric (announced April 17th, 2025), we’ve officially deprecated the aggregate Reach metric previously shown on the Zoomph Social Overview.

The aggregate Reach metric was originally designed to estimate the total number of unique individuals who followed your social handles across platforms. It attempted to de-duplicate individuals who followed you on multiple platforms (e.g., both X/Twitter and Instagram) to provide a cross-platform total audience estimate.

However, with ongoing platform-level changes, evolving measurement methodologies, and shifts in API access and definitions, we no longer believe that this aggregate Reach accurately reflects the impact or audience size our users aim to measure. As a result, we’ve removed it from our Social Overview moving forward.

What This Means for You:

Post-level Reach metrics remain unchanged on:

  • Facebook and Instagram (for owned/authenticated accounts): Reach will continue to be reported via Meta’s official APIs.

  • TikTok: Reach will still appear per post, sourced from TikTok’s API.

  • X/Twitter and YouTube: These platforms do not provide Reach at the post level, and no aggregate Reach will be shown for these sources.

Current and Upcoming Updates to Instagram Metrics:

Instagram Carousels:

Over the past few weeks, we’ve made a number of  improvements to better support filtering and reporting on Instagram Carousels as well as adapt to some changes from Instagram's API. As part of these updates, we discovered a temporary bug that slightly altered some impressions, video views, engagements for some owned Instagram Carousels posts with videos such that the metrics were not matching exactly what was being reported from Instagram.

We’ve now resolved this, ensuring all metrics on affected posts align exactly with Instagram’s API. You might see minor adjustments in metric totals for Instagram Carousels, but rest assured—these metrics now come directly from Instagram.

Video Views and New Metrics:

On January 8th, 2025, Instagram removed the traditional "video views" as a metric from their API as the shift their platform to using "Views" as the primary consumption metric. As a result, we will no longer provide video views (true or projected) for Instagram content. Instagram content will still have "Impressions" and/or "Plays" as the primary metrics while we work on integrating the new "Views" metric.

On January 21, 2025, Meta announced upcoming changes to the Instagram API, including metric updates and deprecations by April 2025. You can check out their full announcement here.

One key change: “Impressions” will be replaced by “Views” as the primary way to measure how often content is seen. This update has already gone live in the Instagram app, and their API will soon follow suit. Another related change is that "Video Views" and "Plays" will be deprecated for video content, and the new "Views" metric will be the primary KPI for videos.

To stay ahead, Zoomph will be updating our platform to support the new metrics and remove deprecated ones in the coming. We’ll provide full details before these changes go live, so stay tuned!

YouTube Logo Detection Disruptions

In mid-January, we shared an issue preventing YouTube content from being scanned for logo exposure. Unfortunately, YouTube has introduced new restrictions that affect our ability—as well as that of other services and providers—to run logo detection on YouTube content.

While we don’t yet have an immediate solution, our team is actively working with YouTube to find a resolution and exploring alternative approaches. We anticipate this issue may persist for several weeks, but please know we’re fully committed to finding a solution as quickly as possible. We’ll keep you updated as we learn more.
