Setting Up Displays At Events

Launching a Zoomph Display at an event is super easy - and watching it amplify your social conversation is event easier!

Use this guide to get your Zoomph Display up and running in a few quick and simple steps.

Materials Checklist

On the day of your event, make sure you're equipped with these basic tools.

  1. Computer: Zoomph works on both Macs and PCs. We recommend using a laptop for mobility and convenience. We do have users who have launched displays from mobile tablets as well.
  2. Internet Access: Make sure your computer is connected to the internet for the entire time your display will be up to ensure you can launch your display, and for the display to update with new posts. Zoomph can be used on Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Internet Explorer, but we recommend Chrome if you have it.
  3. Television/Display Screen: Of course you'll need a screen to display your big, beautiful visual. Our event displays look great on any 'normal' TVs and monitors, but if you have a screen that is longer than most, the size/shape of the visual will respond accordingly, so be sure to test!
  4. Cable for Computer to Screen: Use an HDMI or VGA cord to connect your laptop to your screen. Depending on what type of laptop you have, you may need a cable adapter (ex. thunderbolt-to-HDMI). If you'd like wireless connection, you can use a Google Chromecast to launch your display from either your computer of the Zoomph Social Manager App to your screen.
  5. Zoomph Display URL: Launch your display from the Dashboard. The URL is your display! If you are not onsite, the URL can be sent to anyone like a regular link to whoever will me launching the display.

Testing

Measure twice, cut once. Zoomph is optimized for a wide range of platforms, but you never know when a quirky screen or tech issue can pop up. To make sure everything is perfect, we always encourage testing your Zoomph Display on the exact hardware you will using on the day of the event.

How To Set It Up

  1. If you're going to set up your display, leave it be to run on it's own during your event, configure your laptop's power settings are set so that your computer does not go to sleep when there is a period of inactivity. We also recommend keeping your laptop plugged into its power source so that your battery does not run out during your event.
  2. Connect your laptop to your screen with your HDMI cable (or whatever type of cable/connector you're using). It's best to have your computer's resolution match your screen's. You can adjust this in computer's display settings. You may also want to mirror your displays so that your screen shows exactly what is on your laptop.
  3. Set your TV to the corresponding input.
  4. Login into your Zoomph account, and launch your visual from the dashboard.
  5. Full screen your visual by pressing Command+Shift+F on a Mac, or F11 on a PC.
  6. Watch your social conversation soar!

Things to Consider

  • If you plan to use some sort of third-party digital signage platform that includes its own special hardware and/or software, we definitely recommend that you test displaying your Zoomph visual in advance of your event as different platforms may render differently than expected. If you run into any issues while using a special signage platform, reach out to us with as much detail as possible, and we'll do our best to support.
  • If you see the edges of your display cut off, trying turning off the overscan setting on your television. Our event displays also have an overscan correction, which will add a border to your display to compensate.
  • If your display is not updating with new content, double-check that you have not lost internet connection at any point. If you did lose internet connection but have it restored, refresh your display so that it is up-to-date with the newest content.
  • If you see that you have lost internet connection, DO NOT refresh your visual. Our visual are designed to continue cycling through already shown posts should your computer lose internet connection so that your display does not appear "broken" to your audience. If you refresh your visual without an internet connection, the visual may not load properly. Ensure your connection has been restored before refreshing.
